Proper Good Soup for my Soul

I remember when chicken soup for the soul book came out, a collection of stories to inspire people to make this world a little kinder. And let’s face it, we can all use a kind word now and again, with all the noise pollution in the world.

But to be honest, I was never a fan of soup; in fact, it bored me to tears. It’s just… soup. Watery soup. Boring soup. I personally always opt for the salad if I’m offered soup or salad.

During the pandemic, I was looking for ways to save my money and budget, I was still working, but I knew I was ready to move on and leave social media behind.

It’s a no brainer; subscription services went through the roof, I invested in Blue Apron, and it held up strong during the pandemic.

But my problem was, the subscriptions were either too expensive or just not enough variety.

I love shows like Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank; you get to see people’s dreams come true. I got that “shark” feeling when it was time to give one of my reports the news they were getting a raise.

I was catching up on Shark Tank episodes on YouTube; I caught “Proper Good Food” I thought the skit was clever; I didn’t know the accents were genuine until brother and sister duo Christopher and Jane started to go into their pitch.

Their product was unique because it didn’t require refrigeration; they mentioned their crown jewel was the “Meatball and Red Pepper” soup.

They have made soups that fit all dietary needs; you can purchase a bundle or customise your own. Keto, Dairy-Free, Plant-Based, Low sodium, Gluten-Free, Oatmeal, Bone Broth, Chili!

For example, I wasn’t a big fan of the chicken mushroom cream soup with my keto package, but don’t let me discourage you from not getting it; give it a try! I took it out and added bone broth; it helped put a little spring in my step on the fasting days.

Besides no refrigeration, it only takes about 90 seconds to cook, but it all depends on your microwave. So be sure to test it out properly.

Sometimes when I’m working, I get into the zone, I love what I do, and it doesn’t feel like work most of the time, but I set a timer (yeah, for reals) to remind me when to take a break for lunch.

I was surprised at how filling they all were and packed with flavour; I wish they were on the stock exchange; I would sell my shares in Blue Apron and invest in them!

Coming from the crypto world, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a DEX that allowed crypto and start-up companies. I don’t have the bandwidth to start thinking about this, but with all the red tape companies have to go through the get listed with the big bankers, a DEX for legit companies would make sense.

So for one of my very clever readers, maybe think of creating DEX for all. I will gladly trade on that too.

The bottom line is I love this product; it’s helping me with my grocery budget. When I travel to different countries, I can assure you nothing will get spoiled.

Its shelf life is eight months, but I’m generally done between 7 to 10 days since I ordered seven soups.

If you had nightmares of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, rest assured Christoper and Jane are so lovely; in fact, I got an email from Christopher; at first, I thought it was a marketing email, but it was an actual email from him.

They were rounding up their loyal customers, and because of the length of my subscription, they offered me a place in their program. So we get to hang out on their company slack in our private slack channel.

It’s nice to pop in and check out behind the scenes. It’s an excellent way to make a customer feel like a VIP.

Cheers to Proper Good Soup! My favourite soup for my soul.

PS. I realised I had a lot of points, so I decided to venture out of my standard subscription box. I’m looking forward to trying their oatmeal for my heavy urban hike days to fuel me up and pumpkin-spiced soup too!
