My Non Fiction Book
I’m in the process of writing my first nonfiction book about the South Asian party scene from the late 90s to mid 00s. I was knee deep in it.
A journalist from desiclub.com and a photographer for the parties on the west coast.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of money back then for a 2.0 pixel digital camera, even 3.0 was a big deal. It will be fun to reflect back on it.
I was lucky to come across a lot of great and not so great personalities at the time. I was the photographer YOU WANTED TO AVOID.
This is before Friendster, Myspace and Facebook. We would put the party pictures up on a desiclub.
A few partiers pulled me aside and told me their parents go to our site to LOOK at the pictures. EKKK. Now you hear parents snooping on their grown children’s social media profiles.
I want to keep the stories light hearted and fun, but there are a few life lessons I think we can all learn from, especially those coming to age where bar or club hopping will consume your weekends for the first few years. Well… whatever that looks like is a post pandemic world!
